A nice route criss crossing the village.
From the village hall go up Front Street as far as the upper Green Well and commemorative plaque from 1864.
Turn right down Peggy's Lane towards St Mary's Church. Bear left in front of the church and stop by the front door to see if you spot any carved mice from Robert "Mouseman" Thompson.
On reaching back Street turn right. On the site between Back Street and the Church, the original Ilmington School was situated. A Victorian Gothic style building that served the village between 1858 and 1973. Carry on down Back Street until you reach the kissing gate into Berry Orchard. Go through the gate and bear to the left of the Ponds. This was thought to be the site of the original Ilmington Manor House. Carry straight on across Middle Street, to the left of the Dolls House, eventually arriving at the Red Lion.
Turn left down Front Street and carry on to the Lower Green. Go passed the post box, another of the original wells of the village, and walk down Whitehouse Lane. On reaching Back Street, turn left up the hill and make your way back to the Berry Orchard gate. On the right, just before the school, is a lovely new oak kissing gate, Coronation gate, that was recently replaced by the Parish Council.
Turn left into Berry Orchard but this time bear right to the left of the church. At the next kissing gate, turn left down Church Path which leads onto Valenders Lane. On the left hand side there is a great garden door into the manor grounds with a fantastic knocker/handle.
At the end of Valenders lane you are back at the allotments and the village hall.
