Solar Park Round

Updated: Feb 3, 2021

A route that is easier to do at the moment with a lot less traffic on the roads.

From the Red Lion go down Front Street. Turn right down the Armscote Road. Be careful on this section as cars do drive quickly down the newly resurfaced and straight road. On one of the first bends you pass The Old Wharf on the right, another building associated with the old Moreton to Stratford railway.

After the very straight section of the Armscote Road turn right towards New Bridges Farm and Blackwell. On the right, just before reaching the next junction, there is a sign post for the Centenery Way. You could take this path back but the last time we tried it there was a field that was not passable and we had to turn back. Carry on until you reach the Blackwell Road and turn right. Turn up the slope with the Solar Park on your right.

On reaching the Shipston Road turn left. Take the next right turn up passed Junction Cottage, so named as it was positioned at the junction of the Moreton to Stratford and Shipston to Stratford tramway/railway. There is an old tram carriage on the right as you carry on to the junction with Harolds Farm Road.

Turn right to take you back to Ilmington. On reaching Washbrook Place turn left and carry on back to the Red Lion.

A nice route with a slope back up from Blackwell all the way to Ilmington. Be careful of traffic on the Armscote and Shipston Roads.
