Classic Larkstoke

NOT FOR THE FEINT HEARTED

The classic Larstoke route, or Col D'Larstoke as the local cyclists call it.

Take the footpath to the right of the school. Through to the next field, which usually has Rob's sheep in. Through a kissing gate and across the next field. BEWARE this field and the next, may have Sid's cows in. Keep to the hedgerow and follow the paths straight on (through several kissing gates). Eventually you will go down a slight bracken slope to a kissing gate. Bear left along the edge of the field and you will reach a driveway and the Larkstoke Road. Turn left up the hill and GOOD LUCK.

Follow the road all the way to the top (very easy to write, not so easy to do) and the communication dishes. You are now at the highest point in Warwickshire...261m. Great views towards Cheltenham. Broadway Tower can be seen on a good day.

Take the path left, opposite the communication dishes, down a very ancient path... see Brian Meredith, he can explain it's history (I seem to remember it could be 40,000 years old..... I think....)

Cross over Campden Pitch onto Pig lane. Follow Pig Lane all the way to Foxcote Hill. Turn left and return to the village.

Larstoke is long, demanding and steep. There is, though, a great sense of achievement on getting to the top and really beautiful views especially at sunset.

This route can be done in reverse but would miss out on conquering Larkstoke.
