Ebrington via Foxcote House

A great route, especially when the pubs were open, as all paths lead to the Ebrington Arms.

Start at the village hall, up frog lane and to the top of the hill at Big Foot. Cross Pig Lane and drop down to the Foxcote House Estate. Turn right along the drive and head towards the main house.

Just before the main gates to the house follow the track left. Over a cattle grid and then about 50m later take the path on the right through the woods. The fenced section on the left is for the rearing of pheasant for the local shoot.

Through the 5 bar gate, bearing slightly right down the slope until you get to another 5 bar gate and the track. Follow the track straight on until you reach the shooting barn. Just passed the barn the path goes right down the field and across a small bridge. After the bridge turn left along the field margin and after the first section of field the path turns right up the hill. On reaching the next hedge turn sharp left and follow the path. The path eventually turns right up the hill and you reach a kissing gate.

Follow the drive until reaching the main Ebrington Road. Turn right and immediately right again. This takes you up Nash's Lane and back onto the Foxcote Estate. Follow the track and you will eventually return to the main house. This time walk along the drive all the way to the main gates. Turn left on Foxcote Hill and walk back down to the village.

The steepest hills are at the beginning and end. The rest of the walk is reasonably flat.

Please respect the Estate and keep to the paths.
