A great 10k route. Which direction depends if you like your hills at the beginning or half way round.
My preferred direction is hills at the beginning so...
Leave the village hall by going up Foxcote Hill. Follow the road all the way to Charingworth. The very final section of the road is thought to be a sunken lane caused by the trackway having been used over a long time, perhaps thousands of years.
When reaching the intersection turn left up the hill. Follow the road back down the other side of the hill and it will meet the road to Shipston.
Turn left just after this junction, across a cattle grid, and onto the Compton Scorpion manor Estate.
Follow the track to the farm. Go through the kissing gate and head towards the main house.
Across another cattle grid and then turn right through another kissing gate. Follow the track left to take you back to the railway cottages at the bottom of Compton Scorpion Hill.
Follow Harolds Farm Road back to Ilmington.
